Stair lifts and History
The mechanical tools that are used for moving people up and down on wheelchairs are known as a Stair lifts. If the stairs are wide enough, a rail can be mounted on the stair treads. Then a lifting platform or a chair is joined with the rail. The person who is on the platform can be lifted or taken downstairs with the movement of the platform or chair on the rail. Also known as Stair lifts, stair-lift, stair gliders, chair lifts and such other names, they are different from the chairlifts, which the skiers demand. Stair lifts prove to be a warm breather to disabled and elderly people.
One of the stories behind the invention of stories is the one of CC Crispen, who had built one of the first prototypes of a chair that could be taken up the stairs or steps. It was for his friend so that he could move from one floor to the other with ease. The idea behind introducing Stair lifts was to build a chair that would be able to climb up or down through the stairs and he named it as Inclinator. However, Dr. David Starkey, a TV historian had come up with evidence in 2009 that the stair lift was in the list of King Henry VIII’s possessions, made for the monarch.
